Sweden’s Fingerprints hires David Eastaugh as new chief strategy and technology officer
Swedish biometrics firm Fingerprint Cards has named industry veteran David Eastaugh as its new chief strategy and technology officer (CSTO), effective 19 August 2024.
Eastaugh will play a “key role” as the firm looks to “continue diversifying our operations into new areas”, as stated by Adam Philpott, president and CEO of Fingerprints.
Philpott comments that the firm has identified “significant opportunities to expand in digital identity, a core component of human-digital interactions”.
“Leveraging our rich biometric history and core business as we expand to be a digital identity company, we aim to replace passwords with more reliable biometric authentication,” he explains.
“This will enhance cybersecurity and user experience across various applications, including access control and secure online transactions. David will spearhead this capability development.”
Established in 1997, Fingerprints primarily serves the PC, payment, and access product sectors. Its flagship offerings include a capacitive fingerprint touch sensor and an iris recognition software platform.
Described as a “technology visionary in the fields of identity, data, and combating financial crime and fraud”, the firm’s new CSTO brings over 25 years of experience working for start-ups, scale-ups and corporations to the role.
He joins Fingerprints directly from LexisNexis Risk Solutions, where he has served as senior director of software engineering since May 2023. Prior to this, he held the position of CTO at UK regtech TruNarrative for over six years.
