Norway’s IDEX Biometrics names Catharina Eklof as new CEO
IDEX Biometrics, a Norway-based fingerprint identification solutions provider, has promoted its chief commercial officer (CCO) Catharina Eklof to the CEO position, effective immediately.
Eklof takes the reins from Vince Graziani, who served in the role for over four years and will continue to support the company as an advisor.
For the last three years, Eklof has acted as IDEX Biometrics’ CCO, being described as playing an “instrumental” role in the firm’s “transformation from a component provider to a full biometric solution company”.
Prior to joining IDEX Biometrics, the new CEO held the CCO position at Defentry, a Swedish data security software vendor, for one year.
Throughout her nearly 30-year career, Eklof has held roles at Scandinavian Airlines, Statoil, and global paytech titan Mastercard, where she concluded her tenure as SVP of product development, loyalty, and managed services.
Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Oslo, IDEX Biometrics offers authentication solutions across access control, digital identity, and payments.
Morten Opstad, chairman of the Board of IDEX Biometrics, describes the new CEO as “the ideal person” to lead the company as it focuses “on the fast-growing markets in Asia and EMEA”. Among its recent wins in Asia is Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) in Bangladesh, which selected the vendor for biometric payment cards.
