Dutch paytech Adyen names Tom Adams as new CTO
Adyen, a Dutch payments processor, has appointed former Cash App exec Tom Adams as its new CTO.
Adams’ appointment has received approval from De Nederlandsche Bank and is pending shareholder approval at an upcoming EGM.
If approved, Adams will take charge of the strategic and “technological vision” of the firm’s single platform, which integrates payments, data and financial products.
Following a six-year tenure at Cash App, where he most recently acted as head of engineering, Adams succeeds the CTO position from Alexander Matthey.
Matthey first joined Adyen nearly a decade ago as VP of integrations for Germany, and having served as CTO for the past three years, is set to conclude his tenure at the end of the year.
On his decision to not apply for an additional term at Adyen, Matthey said: “Balancing leading Adyen based out of Amsterdam and the company’s many global offices with my family life in Berlin has driven my decision to not commit for another four years.”
Recent departures from Adyen’s executive team include Steven van Bommel and Jan-Pieter Lips, who both exited in January to take up positions at Gigs and DNA Payments, respectively.
