Innovation Federal Credit Union names Jason Cinq-Mars as new CIO
Innovation Federal Credit Union in Canada has promoted “seasoned strategic executive leader” Jason Cinq-Mars to the position of chief information officer (CIO).
Cinq-Mars first joined the Swift Current-headquartered co-operative in January 2023 as senior vice president of next-generation banking, where it’s said he “defined and implemented a strategic vision to position the credit union as a leader in Consumer Driven Banking (Open Banking) and Banking-as-a-Service”, according to a profile description on its website.
His efforts in this former role culminated in Innovation’s implementation and go-live of the Microsoft Azure cloud-based core banking system with US fintech Fiserv last year. Now, his attention is to shift to overseeing the credit union’s information, technology and security functions, “ensuring alignment with the business objectives and the member needs”, the description continues.
“With his exceptional talent for fostering partnerships and managing a variety of platforms, systems, and controls, Jason stands out as the perfect fit for this role,” the credit union wrote on LinkedIn this week.
Cinq-Mars adds: “I am very excited and humbled by the opportunity! Over the last year, I’ve come to really appreciate the culture of Innovation Federal Credit Union. An organisation that lives up to its name and aligns perfectly to my core values.”
The new CIO boasts over 25 years of experience in business and IT, with the majority of this attributed to his tenure at Edmonton-headquartered Servus Credit Union, where he worked for almost 14 years and served most recently as vice president of strategic solutions.
His promotion comes after Innovation’s transition into a federal credit union in June last year when it became one of the first in the Saskatchewan province to achieve this feat. At the same time, it also increased its assets by over 13.7%, ending the “historical year” with a total of $4.93 billion in assets under administration (AUM), according to a statement posted in April.
