Fiserv appoints former JP Morgan Payments head Takis Georgakopoulos as new senior advisor
US fintech Fiserv has appointed Takis Georgakopoulos, the recently departed head of JP Morgan Payments, as its new senior advisor and executive vice president, effective 3 September 2024.
He will also become a member of Fiserv’s management committee, with his new employer stating that he will collaborate closely with its leadership team to drive “positive client outcomes”.
Georgakopoulos departed JP Morgan a few weeks ago having served as the bank’s global head of payments for the past seven years, stating on LinkedIn at the time that he has “decided to pursue a very exciting opportunity outside the firm”.
He is credited for helping JP Morgan Payments “become one of the firm’s biggest growth engines, increasing revenue and market share in a highly competitive environment”, according to Jennifer Piepszak and Troy Rohrbaugh, co-heads of JP Morgan’s Commercial and Investment Bank.
Before his 17-year tenure at JP Morgan, Georgakopoulos worked as a partner at consultancy firm McKinsey & Company, advising banks and asset managers.
Commenting on the firm’s new appointment, Frank Bisignano, chairman, president and CEO of Fiserv, says Georgakopoulos’ “extensive payments and leadership experience and operational expertise” will be a boost to the firm’s leadership team.
Fiserv is a banking technology and payments company offering core and mobile banking solutions alongside products for global commerce, merchant acquiring, billing and payments, and point-of-sale.
