Beobank selects Viva to power new corporate payment solutions for SMEs in Belgium
Beobank in Belgium has partnered with Greek payments group Viva to “advance local SMEs’ digital evolution and business growth”.
To achieve this, the partners are to produce an “end-to-end corporate solution” comprised of Viva’s omnichannel payments technology and the Crédit Mutuel Group subsidiary’s SME and sole trader-specific banking services suite.
The outcome of this combination is intended to “hasten the adoption of digital payments among Belgian SMEs” and deliver “unparalleled efficiency and cost-effectiveness” and “a comprehensive business proposition that supports growth” for the 765,000 customers Beobank currently claims to serve, according to a statement.
Dirk Verhaeghe, head of retail products at Beobank, says the partnership will tap Viva’s “payment technologies, streamlined registration process, and transparent pricing”, an integration guided by “conversations with our professional customers” and set to generate what Verhaeghe describes as “a significant step forward in Beobank’s commitment to enhancing its services for SMEs and self-employed individuals”.
For Viva, whose remit primarily pertains to softPOS technology, smart checkout functions, marketplace solutions, and account and debit card services, chief partnerships officer, Harry Xenophontos, describes the move as “an integral part into our expansion strategy”.
He explains that this strategy is based on “extended distribution channels that make our innovative omnichannel payment solutions easily accessible to every business around Europe”.
This strategy recently saw Viva’s UK subsidiary, Viva Wallet, secure authorisation as an e-money institution (EMI) from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in October.
Viva Group founder and CEO, Haris Karonis, said at the time that the authorisation “complements the breadth of our technological and operational capacity” in line with the company’s attempt to build “robust fully cloud-based, innovative payments technology, combined with a localised compliance and internal controls environment”.
