UK challenger Tandem appoints Suavek Zajac as new CTO
UK digital bank Tandem has hired former Railsr head Suavek Zajac as its new CTO to oversee the development of its digital offering.
Zajac’s responsibilities as CTO will also extend to leading the bank’s engineering team in “building scalable systems to support Tandem’s green mission of making it easier for people to choose a greener lifestyle”.
Launched in 2014, Tandem offers its environmentally conscious clients a range of “green” products, including mortgages, home improvement loans, motor finance, and instant access and fixed-rate savings accounts.
Commenting on the challenger’s new CTO, Alex Mollart, Tandem’s CEO, cites Zajac’s experience in scaling companies and platform development as “instrumental” to the firm’s ambition to develop products that enable customers to “live a more sustainable lifestyle”.
Zajac brings nearly 25 years of experience in the technology sector to Tandem, with a background in leading tech teams at companies such as Grand Parade, William Hill, and Dell. His most recent positions include serving as CTO for Blackberry and UK-based fintech Railsr.
“As the UK transitions towards a net zero economy, companies like Tandem have a huge role to play in getting consumers over the line on green issues on time,” claims Zajac.
His appointment isn’t the sole leadership addition at the bank this year. Maria Khan, a former JP Morgan executive, joined in January as director of product and digital.
