Mangopay appoints Meta product lead Ariel Shoham as VP of risk product
Mangopay has hired former Meta product lead Ariel Shoham as its new VP of risk product.
The European payment infrastructure provider has tasked its latest hire with heading its “product vision, strategy and roadmap for identity and fraud protection”, including its cybersecurity solution.
Operating under private equity investor Advent International since its €75 million acquisition in 2022, Mangopay services marketplaces and platforms with payment technology and identity verification services.
It previously sought to bolster its security offering by acquiring Nethone and its marketplace-specific anti-fraud solutions in 2023, before later snapping up Irish paytech WhenThen and its payment acceptance technology the same year.
Mangopay claims Shoham’s appointment coincides with “a period of growth”, and has named the new VP ahead of plans to expand its fraud prevention solutions and scale the applicability of its B2C and B2B platforms.
He is to assume the position directly from Meta where, as product lead for over two years, he is cited as a founding force behind the corporation’s KYC team, as well as its financial compliance platform.
His 25 years of technology experience also extends to US-based fraud prevention firm Forter, for which he previously led product management in identity and account protection, alongside co-founding interactive learning technology start-up Smart Sparrow, before it was acquired by Pearson in 2020 at a value of $25 million.
Speaking on his latest position, Shoham says he plans to “bring payment facilitation and fraud prevention together” under his remit for Mangopay, in an attempt to deliver “better decision making, increased safety and lower friction for our clients”.
