Former Bank of America MD Mieko Shibata named new R&T Deposit Solutions CIO
R&T Deposit Solutions, a US-based provider of cash management and deposit placement programmes, has appointed industry veteran Mieko Shibata as its new executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO).
Shibata, who will also serve as a member of the company’s executive management committee, has been tasked with overseeing R&T’s technology strategy.
Commenting on the firm’s new appointment, R&T’s executive chairperson Susan Cosgrove says Shibata’s “wealth of experience in financial technologies” will contribute to advancing the company’s digital transformation as “we continue to modernise the way we operate and serve our clients”.
Shibata joins R&T from Bank of America, where she held a number of tech leadership roles over a six-and-a-half-year tenure, including head of global markets regulatory reporting technology and head of global markets FX/OTC derivatives post trade technology.
Prior to joining BofA, Shibata also held leadership positions at industry heavyweights such as Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, and the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC).
Founded in 1974 and headquartered in New York, R&T supplies the financial service sector with liquidity management, deposit funding, and securities-based lending solutions.
Shibata adds to a growing list of recent CIO appointments. Earlier this year, Barrett Schiwitz took up the role at Finland’s Basware and Sue Britton joined Canada’s Beem Credit Union.
