Pomelo Group names Steve Vickers as new CEO
Payment infrastructure platform Pomelo Group has appointed industry veteran Steve Vickers as its new CEO.
Vickers, who will also take a seat on the company’s board of directors, succeeds the firm’s co-founder Vincent Choi, who is stepping down as CEO and will be joining Pomelo’s strategic advisory board.
Based in Singapore and the UK, Pomelo specialises in developing B2B platform solutions for financial institutions, granting businesses access to the latest payment rails and enabling them to offer modern payment solutions to their end users.
Speaking on the company’s new hire, Endre Sagi, Pomelo’s executive chairman, states that Vickers boasts a “long tenure in the payment industry”, and his proven ability to build “highly successful start-ups” and attract new talent “will serve Pomelo well into the future”.
Vickers brings more than 25 years of industry expertise to his new role along with a deep understanding of cross-border B2B payments in Southeast Asia.
Before joining Pomolo, Vickers held the positions of COO and Asia MD at Paysend. Prior to that, he served as the CEO of Thunes, a Singaporean fintech focused on building cross-border mobile payments networks.
