Stax Payments announces Mark Sundt as new chief technology officer
US paytech Stax Payments has announced the appointment of Mark Sundt as its new chief technology officer (CTO), succeeding Chris Staymates who will return to his role as Stax’s chief innovation officer.
“As CTO, Sundt will accelerate the delivery of new products, features, and functionality that unlock and drive increased value for Stax customers and partners,” explains the payments firm.
Sundt brings vast executive as a technology leader, working for several heavyweight financial institutions, including at Microsoft where he was the company’s cloud computing solutions architect.
In addition, Sundt served as CTO at fellow payments solutions firm Clearant, and most recently worked as IBM’s principal client engineering squad lead, where he was responsible for helping customers adopt large language models (LLMs) and generative AI into their operations.
Stax expects Sundt to leverage his knowledge of AI technologies to “transform internal productivity” and the extent to which the company can engage with its clients and partners.
Commenting on the firm’s new CTO, Stax CEO Paulette Rowe, states: “With Mark on board, we will further our payment capabilities and achieve new successes in the evolving tech landscape”.
Sundt joins a list of new appointments to Stax’s leadership team, including Rowe as CEO. Additionally, the company announced the acquisition of Atlantic-Pacific Processing Systems last year.
