Canoe Intelligence appoints former CIA analyst Noel Calhoun as new CTO
New York-based Canoe Intelligence (CI) has named former CIA analyst Noel Calhoun as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
Formed in 2013, Canoe Intelligence provides AI technology solutions built to help alternative investment companies improve their data management processes.
Calhoun joins the fintech from Onsights.io, where he held the role of CTO for just under two years. He has also previously worked as CTO for tech firms Interos and Kensho Technologies.
Prior to this, Calhoun spent 13 years at the CIA, where he led the agency’s data science and machine learning teams.
At Canoe Intelligence, Calhoun will work to guide its technical strategy while also designing and operationalising the company’s upcoming product offerings.
On his hiring, Calhoun remarks that there is a “market opportunity” for a company like Canoe Intelligence to create “extreme value” through the application of machine learning.
CI has also appointed a new head of people, Tiffany Mosher Taylor, who joins after performing the same role at Appcues. In her new position, the firm states Taylor will focus on “strategic talent acquisition, employee development, and fostering key business partnerships”.
CI’s CEO, Jason Eiswerth, says that the pair join at a pivotal time for the company following a “surge in demand for private market investment data automation”.
