Blockchain intelligence start-up Crystal hires Navin Gupta as new CEO
Crystal, a Dutch blockchain intelligence start-up, has hired former Ripple director Navin Gupta as its new CEO.
Gupta succeeds Marina Khaustova in the position, who will now shift to the role of COO to “co-pilot Crystal forward together” with the new lead, after serving as CEO since January 2019.
Unveiling the news via LinkedIn, Khaustova says the start-up’s new leadership structure seeks to “amplify our efforts in safeguarding the blockchain industry, aligning supervisory bodies and financial institutions with our vision”.
Founded by blockchain technology company Bitfury in 2018 and based in Amsterdam, Crystal provides web-based regtech solutions to aid financial institutions in complying with crypto-based regulations and to help law enforcement agencies pinpoint those that choose otherwise.
According to a statement, Gupta’s appointment will lead its efforts to expand its suite of solutions and extend its reach to “a global audience of regulators, VASPs, TradFi sectors, and stakeholders in cryptocurrencies”.
Gupta joins Crystal directly from Ripple, a crypto and blockchain solutions vendor based in San Francisco, USA, where it’s claimed he “successfully drove growth” during a seven-year tenure as managing director of South Asia and MENA.
Before this, he held several senior positions at HSBC, most recently including head of growth strategy for Asia, after serving as VP for Citibank.
