Thunes makes leadership changes, appoints Floris de Kort as new CEO
B2B cross-border paytech company Thunes has promoted current CEO Peter De Kaluwe to deputy chairman and appointed Floris de Kort as its new chief executive.
Thunes says de Kort brings “highly reputable payment expertise” to his new role. He previously served as CEO of global e-commerce at Worldpay, leading the company through to its IPO in 2015.
In 2019, de Kort was appointed CEO of software and integrated payments firm TSG, where he led the company through its merger with US-integrated payment processor Clearent to form Xplor Technologies.
At Thunes, de Kort will be responsible for scaling and accelerating the company’s growth and will be based at the company’s headquarters in Singapore.
De Caluwe, who has served as Thunes’ CEO since its early days in 2017, will now be responsible for the company’s overall strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and further expansion into markets such as China and the Gulf countries.
Allan Green, chairman of Thunes, says the new appointments will help create a “high-impact leadership team”.
Founded in 2016, Thunes has offices in 20 locations, including Beijing, Nairobi, London, Paris, Dubai and Barcelona. It claims to facilitate payments in 80 currencies across 133 countries using more than 300 payment methods.
In June last year, it closed its Series C funding round, raising more than $60 million in total.
