Former Adyen exec Jan-Pieter Lips joins UK’s DNA Payments as CEO
Payments processing firm DNA Payments has named former Adyen exec Jan-Pieter Lips as its new chief executive officer (CEO).
The UK-headquartered firm has tasked Lips with leading its next period of growth and furthering its push to extend its cloud-based omnichannel payment processing service to “fast growing vertical market sectors” such as restaurants and specialist retailers in the UK and across Europe.
Directors Arif Babayev and Nurlan Zhagiparov, who co-founded the firm in 2018, say that Lips’ appointment has enabled them to focus their attention on other core initiatives within the company’s operations. Babayev says his focus will now land on mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, strategy and executing expansion plans, while Zhagiparov will look towards innovation, products and technology.
The pair add: “We have been through a long and thorough selection process and are convinced that Jan-Pieter is the right person for the role.”
Speaking on his new role, Lips says that the firm is currently experiencing “huge growth”, while the companies it serves harbour an increasing appetite for greater market agility and new innovations across commerce and payments. “I am a big believer in the transformational role of technology,” he claims, adding that the firm is “incredibly well placed to deliver this”.
Noted as a co-founder of the UK’s Nectar loyalty programme, Lips joins DNA Payments from Adyen, having served in a variety of leadership roles throughout his almost five-year tenure at the Dutch payments processor.
Most recently, he held the position of head of unified commerce, where he was responsible for creating and operating its omnichannel verticals, which facilitate 23% of Adyen’s total payments volume.
