Funding Circle appoints Coconut co-founder Adam Goodall as VP of product
Funding Circle, a UK-based lending platform for small businesses, has appointed Adam Goodall as its new vice president of product.
Goodall joins Funding Circle from Coconut, a UK fintech start-up that he co-founded in 2016 to help microbusinesses with their finances and taxes through a mobile and web app. Serving as chief product officer, Goodall led the company’s product development until it was acquired by GoSimpleTax earlier this year.
The move comes after Sam O’Connor, Coconut’s other co-founder and CEO, also announced he had embarked on a “new chapter” last month, joining OakNorth to lead its business banking offering.
In a post on Coconut’s website shortly after the acquisition, Goodall wrote: “Sam and I will be taking a step back from operational involvement in Coconut in the coming weeks once we have handed over to the GoSimpleTax team. We are remaining small shareholders and are fully invested in helping steer the business forward to deliver on the vision for Coconut.”
The pair had also previously worked together to launch ProConfirm in 2012, which provided account verification software for banks and accounting companies. Both later exited when the solution was acquired by Confirmation, a US-based provider of online audit confirmation services, in July 2014.
In his new role, Goodall has been tasked with enhancing Funding Circle’s multi-product platform in order to serve more customers’ needs.
Commenting on the appointment, Jerome Fernandez, managing director of FlexiPay at Funding Circle, says: “Adam brings a wealth of experience working with small businesses which is invaluable as we continue to solve more customers’ pain points and help them get the funding they need to win.”
