ClearBank names former Barclays and Starling exec Megan Cooper as new chief product officer
ClearBank, a UK-based clearing and embedded banking platform, has appointed Megan Cooper as its new chief product officer (CPO).
The move comes just eight months after the company hired former PayPal executive Spiros Theodossiou for the same role, who has since been promoted to group chief product and technology officer as of October.
Cooper brings more than a decade of fintech experience to her new role. She joins ClearBank from Barclays UK, where she served as head of digital strategy from 2019 to 2021 and later as CPO for its consumer banking platform from 2021 to 2023. Prior to that, Cooper worked for Starling Bank as chief platform officer for over two years.
Her earlier experience also includes product manager roles at fintech companies such as Xero and Intuit. Since 2020, she has also been serving as a board member for digital, technology and cyber products and services at UK Finance.
As CPO, Cooper has been tasked with leading the bank’s product strategy and roadmap as it looks to expand into new markets, working closely with the bank’s client management, innovation, engineering and risk and compliance teams to develop and maintain the bank’s capabilities.
Commenting on the appointment, Theodossiou says Cooper “brings a wealth of fintech experience to the role, having worked with both start-ups and established brands”.
He adds that her appointment comes at an opportune time for ClearBank as the business plans expansion “not just of its products and services, but also into international markets”.
