Swedish lender Froda hires former Klarna director Roger Forsberg as CTO
Swedish alternative lender Froda has hired former Klarna director Roger Forsberg as its new chief technology officer (CTO), effective 4 December.
Claiming to be undergoing “a phase of rapid scaling”, CEO and founder Olle Lundin describes Forsberg’s appointment as “a significant asset” to the Stockholm-based fintech as it develops its technical platform which seeks to “democratise access to financing” for SMEs.
With this, he is expected to form and execute a strategy for Froda’s loan products and embedded finance operations, working alongside the fintech’s former CTO, Astrid de Laval, who will now transition into the role of VP of engineering.
Forsberg comes to Froda from Klarna, where he served as engineering director, joining the Swedish buy now, pay later (BNPL) firm shortly after it acquired the Nordic shopping comparison site PriceRunner in November 2021, where he also served as CTO.
Reflecting on his most recent appointment within the fintech, Forsberg describes Froda as “the perfect place for me to contribute to the next phase of technical innovation”.
Claiming to be serving more than 50,000 businesses while raising capital at a valuation of SEK 1.7 billion, Froda currently operates in Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and the UK, having entered the latter market in June this year.
