Denmark’s Mazepay taps ex-Mastercard exec Kevin Stanton to lead US drive
Danish B2B fintech Mazepay has hired former Mastercard executive Kevin Stanton to lead its pursuit of the American dream.
Appointed to its board of directors, Stanton will be tasked with expanding both the fintech’s partner network and its position within the US.
Founded in 2018 and based in Aarhus, Mazepay offers a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) technology platform that works with medium and large-scale enterprises to help them manage long-tail procurement and B2B spending. The platform includes a subscription management system, an end-to-end process for virtual card and supplier onboarding functions.
Backed by a pan-European payments licence from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority, investors Outward VC, Hambro Perks and Scale Capital, and with Stanton as a board member, the fintech is now seeking to “accelerate our growth journey as we expand across North America and beyond”, according to CEO Søren Aabel Hammer.
Stanton brings to the board over two decades of experience in the payments industry, having spent the bulk of his career serving various high-profile positions at Mastercard.
This includes as as president of Mastercard Canada, senior counsel for the US and Canada, chief of Mastercard data and services, and most recently, as chief transformation officer, where he “spearheaded efforts to adapt the company’s operating models and systems to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving global landscape”.
Speaking on his new appointment, Stanton says he will leverage his professional experience and network to “help accelerate growth and partnerships across North America and Europe”.
Hammer adds that Stanton’s connections and experience will be “vital” as it seeks to establish new partnerships, specifically with commercial banks.
