US regional bank United Community partners Allied Payment Network for real-time payments
United Community has tapped Indiana-headquartered Allied Payment Network to connect its customers with real-time payment capabilities.
Based in Greenville, South Carolina, United Community is a regional bank offering both personal and business banking services, including checking and savings accounts and loans, as well as wealth management and investment solutions. It operates primarily in the states of Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
As part of its newfound relationship with Allied, the bank is to integrate its real-time payment solutions into its digital banking platform, which is supported by its existing partner, the Texas-based financial software provider Q2.
Allied announced a similar integration with Commencement Bank, a US-based community bank, last month in another step forward for real-time payments in the country.
Speaking on the integration, the bank’s director of digital banking, David Barrows, anticipates that it will afford its customers a “superior mobile-first experience” amid what he observes as an increasing adoption of digital payments.
Mark Terry, its chief information officer, emphasises that fast and secure payment capabilities are “critical in today’s digital environment”, and that its partnership with Allied will enable it to “meet our customers’ evolving needs”.
The partnership builds upon the bank’s earlier adoption of Computer Services Inc.’s core processing and digital banking technology, and is expected to advance both the speed and security of its payment capabilities.
