Japan’s 77 Bank taps Fujitsu to launch in-store banking tablets
Japanese regional bank 77 Bank has collaborated with Fujitsu to introduce a system that enables its customers to complete banking transactions via an in-store tablet.
Distributed across all of the bank’s 144 branches, the tablets allow customers to open accounts, alter their personal details or report a lost or stolen card, among its other capabilities, without requiring the customer to affix their seal to a paper document, as is customary when banking in the country.
The interface is linked to the bank’s internal systems in real time through the API link function of Chordship, Fujitsu’s cloud-based customer engagement solution. According to the companies’ official announcement, the solution not only ensures the accuracy of the interface, but is also able to cut transaction times while simultaneously improving bank employees’ operational efficiency.
The solution notably hosts a low-code development tool, which Fujitsu leveraged during its development process of the service’s front-end functions, business flows, user interface and screen mocks, and claims it developed the service “in a short delivery time”.
Fujitsu has indicated that it will continue to collaborate with 77 Bank to “promote the digitisation of transactional documents”, including the expansion of the service to host non-face-to-face transactions.
