Australia’s Bendigo and Adelaide Bank migrates digital banking system to Google Cloud
Australia’s Bendigo and Adelaide Bank is now using Google Cloud to host its digital banking system as part of its continued efforts to simplify its operations and enhance its customer experience.
Following the migration, which was carried out by its implementation partner Cognizant and completed in May, the bank reports that it has achieved 99.9% availability across its underlying cloud infrastructure, and claims that it can now deploy customer experience upgrades in as little as 15 minutes.
The bank adds that a third of its applications are now hosted by the technology, and it hopes to migrate at least half of its business operations to the cloud by 2024, including its retail, business and mortgage services.
Furthermore, it claims that the application of the Google Kubernetes Engine, a fully managed service within Google Cloud that lends itself to container orchestration and management, has enabled the bank to more accurately react to customer demands during on- and off-peak periods.
Alister Dias, VP of Google Cloud Australia and New Zealand, says the integration of the bank’s system with cloud technology has allowed the bank to “radically strengthen its customer value proposition at scale”.
The shift is part of a wider digital strategy currently being deployed by Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.
Last month, it announced that it had partnered with cloud-based financial services platform nCino to automate its business banking processes, and in May, it was one of 17 national banks to join the Fraud Reporting Exchange (FRX) platform to help prevent fraudulent activity in finance.
