Yes Bank appoints Pankaj Sharma as chief strategy and transformation officer
India’s Yes Bank, a full-service commercial bank headquartered in Mumbai, has appointed Pankaj Sharma as its new chief strategy and transformation officer.
A “senior banking professional” with more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Sharma joins Yes Bank from RBL Bank, where he served as chief operating officer (COO) and was responsible for the bank’s operations, transformation and corporate services.
His previous work experience also includes stints at other Indian financial institutions including Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and GE Countrywide.
In his new role, Sharma has been tasked with bringing together the bank’s key stakeholders to align its transformation strategy, lead initiatives, and develop a “clear roadmap” to help the bank achieve its strategic and financial goals.
Working alongside and reporting to managing director and CEO Prashant Kumar and the board, Sharma will also be responsible for identifying and evaluating growth opportunities and lead the implementation of transformation programmes, including direct oversight of digital transformation initiatives.
Commenting on the appointment, Kumar says Sharma joins the bank “at an important juncture”.
“Given his vast experience in transformation and change management, we are confident that Pankaj will bring in a fresh perspective to accelerate our momentum and help the bank achieve its strategic objectives.”
