Scotiabank shakes up senior leadership team with new appointments
Canadian banking giant Scotiabank has made a series of new appointments to its senior leadership team.
The bank has appointed Aris Bogdaneris to the newly created role of group head, digital transformation, Tangerine, marketing and analytics, effective 1 September. In the role, Bogdaneris will leverage his work experience of over 25 years to oversee Scotiabank’s digital banking business Tangerine, as well as head up global marketing, customer insights, data and analytics, and real estate.
He joins Scotiabank from ING, where he served on the bank’s management board as global head of retail banking and head of challenger and growth markets.
Commenting on the appointment, Scott Thomson, president and CEO of Scotiabank, says Tangerine is “becoming an integral part of our future growth plans” and Bogdaneris will work to “accelerate growth and solidify Tangerine’s position as the leading digital bank in Canada“.
Paul Baroni, who has been with the bank for over 22 years in roles across auditing, finance and operations, has been appointed as EVP, finance and chief financial officer for its Canadian Banking business.
Other appointments include Maria Theofilaktidis as EVP and chief auditor, Chris Manning as EVP, global business payments, and Anique Asher, EVP, finance and strategy, with the additional mandate of overseeing capital management.
Scotiabank has also named Jenny Poulos as deputy chief human resources officer (CHRO) effective 2 October. Poulos is set to take over as CHRO from 4 December, replacing current group head and CHRO Barb Mason, who is set to retire at the end of 2023 after spending 41 years with the bank.
