Akber Jaffer named as SmartStream’s new CEO
SmartStream, a UK-based provider of financial transaction lifecycle management solutions, has appointed Akber Jaffer as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective 19 September.
The company describes Jaffer as an “accomplished leader with a passion for technology and a dedication to execution and client focus”, as evidenced through his work with start-ups and scaled software and tech firms.
Bringing more than 25 years of experience to his new role, Jaffer joins SmartStream from Finastra, where he spent five years in senior leadership roles, before going freelance for over a year from June 2022 to September 2023.
Prior to Finastra, Jaffer spent more than 11 years at Colt Technology Services, most recently working as its chief strategy officer and chief of staff.
Commenting on Jaffer’s appointment, Khalifa AlDaboos, chairman of the board at SmartStream, says: “He brings a distinguished career in financial services and software to our organisation. His wide-ranging experience and track record of success make him ideally suited to lead SmartStream.”
Jaffer replaces Haytham Kaddoura, who served as SmartStream’s CEO for over seven years from May 2016 to September 2023 before transitioning into his current role of advisor and board director for the company.
