Silicon Valley Bank makes two senior appointments to lead payment products and digital strategy
Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), a division of First Citizens Bank, has made two new senior appointments to lead the development of its core payment products and digital strategy.
The bank has named Martin Murrell as head of global payments and Milton Santiago as head of global digital solutions.
Murrell will be tasked with leading the teams behind SVB’s payment products, a suite that currently includes commercial card, merchant and embedded payment services.
Having originally joined the bank in May last year, Murrell previously led its payments infrastructure, integration and delivery team as a senior managing director.
However, with his latest appointment, Murrell is set to create a “differentiated payments platform” for the bank through guiding product enhancements, risk management and client experience initiatives, and by leveraging his 25-year professional experience.
This experience extends to New York-based Amalgamated Bank, where he served as chief operating officer and senior EVP of consumer banking from August 2016 to May 2022, and American Express, where between January 2009 and March 2016, he was responsible for launching the firm’s personal savings direct deposit business, among other initiatives.
Santiago, an SVB employee of five years, has now been made responsible for defining the bank’s digital strategy and supporting it with aligned technology investments as head of its digital solutions team.
With three decades of industry experience, Santiago has led the digital transformation of several companies and banks. He founded FinTech Advisors, LLC in December 2015, which guides banks seeking to transform their digital client experience, and was managing director, global channel for Bank of America between October 2007 and June 2015, where he established a strategy for its global corporate portal and e-commerce channels.
Prior to this, he spent 20 years at LaSalle Bank leading digital transformation in electronic banking product roles.
“In a period of dramatic change in the payments and digital banking landscape, Martin and Milton bring the vision and execution needed to enhance SVB’s product suite, bringing inventive and bespoke solutions to our innovation economy clients,” says Gagan Kanjlia, SVB’s chief product officer.
