Rabobank appoints Alexander Zwart as chief innovation and technology officer
Dutch bank Rabobank has appointed Alexander Zwart as its new chief innovation and technology officer, starting 1 December.
The appointment of Zwart, subject to supervisory assessments, marks the exit of Bart Leurs, who has served as the bank’s CITO since 2021. Leurs joined Rabobank seven years ago as head of fintech and innovation, followed by a stint as the bank’s digital transformation officer and board member.
Zwart has been working at Rabobank for over 15 years, having joined in 2008 as head of cash management operations. He worked his way up to the top for over a decade, serving in various senior roles, most recently as chief technology officer (CTO) of Rabobank Retail Netherlands.
Prior to joining Rabobank, Zwart worked at energy supplier Nuon Deutscheland for over six years in several roles, and started his career at Coca-Cola in 1997.
In his new role, Zwart will be joining Rabobank’s management board and will be responsible for technology, data and analytics, digital transformation and innovation for the bank.
Commenting on the appointment, Marjan Trompetter, chair of Rabobank, says: “Alexander has a long history at Rabobank and is very much acquainted with the core of Rabobank’s technology and digitalisation. He has shown he can drive hugely complex changes within the bank, something you cannot achieve without truly connecting to people and building strong teams.”
