Krakowski Bank Spółdzielczy taps Diebold Nixdorf to modernise ATM network
Krakowski Bank Spółdzielczy (KBS) has partnered with paytech heavyweight Diebold Nixdorf to modernise its ATM network and facilitate improved access to cash.
One of the largest cooperative banks in Poland, KBS will leverage this partnership to modernise its ATM network and cash recyclers by the end of 2023, to provide “convenient and secure” access to cash and banking services for its customers.
As part of the deal, KBS will install new DN Series ATMs to enable cash transactions via contactless cards with an NFC module and through a mobile phone verification system. The new devices include features that improve the customer experience, such as the option to make transactions in multiple languages alongside clear messaging and innovative screens that are visible under direct sunlight.
According to research cited by KBS, 80% of Polish customers believe access to cash must remain a part of the country’s financial system.
“While cooperative banking customers are eager to use digital payment solutions, cash still plays a very significant role,” says Tomasz Styczyński, president of the management board at KBS.
“Following the political and economic uncertainty in recent years, we’ve seen that the importance of cash has increased. In an emergency situation, our customers have clearly shown that cash is a priority. It was at that point we realised the importance of maintaining internal services to effectively support the demand for cash within our own ATM network.”
