Apple rolls out Tap to Pay in the UK with Revolut and NatWest
Tech giant Apple’s contactless payment technology Tap to Pay is now available to UK businesses via NatWest and Revolut’s iOS apps.
Tap to Pay allows businesses to accept in-person, contactless payments on an iPhone, without any need for additional hardware or card readers. It accepts payments from physical debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets that enable contactless transactions.
Additionally, Apple says its Tap to Pay technology utilises built-in features of the iPhone to keep businesses’ and customers’ data private and secure.
“The launch of Tap to Pay on iPhone allows us to offer greater choice for both consumers and merchants in the UK,” says Alex Codina, GM of merchant acquiring at Revolut.
“We expect to see all kinds of businesses, from retail stores to barbershops and food stands, quickly start accepting in-person contactless payments with only an iPhone.”
Apart from accepting contactless payments, NatWest customers will also be able to track sales and transaction history on their every day business performance, alongside accessing insights and support from Tyl’s customer portal.
