Stripe unveils embeddable fiat-to-crypto onramp for Web3 businesses
Stripe has unveiled an embeddable fiat-to-crypto onramp, making the process of purchasing crypto easier for US users via Web3 companies, allowing customers to purchase crypto at the moment they need it.
Its solution tackles the issue crypto and blockchain firms often face: customers don’t always have crypto in their wallets.
Stripe now offers two implementation options for its onramp: an embeddable solution which allows developers to insert a crypto-purchasing widget into their website or app; and a Stripe-hosted onramp, which firms can direct customers to.
Both onramps are designed to boost conversion and authorisation rates. Each includes built-in fraud tools and identity verification to support companies in meeting know your customer (KYC) and compliance requirements.
Consumers using the onramp for the first time need only complete identity verification once and add their payment information to a Link account. Link speeds up checkout for customers by saving payment details that can be used for subsequent purchases at any Link-enabled business.
Guillaume Poncin, head of engineering for crypto at Stripe, says: “With our onramp options, Web3 companies can now outsource a bunch of the very important but tricky pieces to Stripe — things like conversion and auth optimisation, identity verification, fraud prevention, and so on.”
