Vietnamese digital bank TNEX seeks new CEO as Bryan Carroll steps down
Vietnamese digital bank TNEX is on the lookout for a new CEO with co-founder Bryan Carroll set to step down from the role at the end of March.
Announcing the news on LinkedIn, Carroll says he will instead take up a position on the company’s board. While not giving an official reason for the move, he does say the decision has been a “very difficult” one to make.
“TNEX was never a job to me but a consuming passion to improve the everyday lives of the unbanked in Vietnam. Being part of the journey has made me feel very emotional at times and a little proud,” he writes.
TNEX was founded in 2019 by Carroll along with David Jimenez Maireles and Nga Pham Thi Nguyet as Vietnam’s first digital bank. Currently serving 1.6 million customers, it was launched in 2020 as the digital banking unit of Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB), where Carroll previously worked as chief digital officer.
Carroll’s financial services career also includes stints at Bank of Ireland, National Bank of Abu Dhabi and ACCBank (now ACC Loan Management).
He concludes: “I will miss most the daily interaction, challenge, innovation and spirit of my entire fintech frontier team.”
