Virtual card paytech Conferma Pay names Jason Lalor as CEO
UK-based virtual payments technology firm Conferma Pay has named Jason Lalor as its new CEO.
Lalor brings more than 20 years’ worth of leadership experience across commercial operations, strategy development and partner engagement within the fintech sector.
He most recently served as CEO of Square’s European business, headquartered in Dublin, and was an executive director on several of Square’s international boards.
Prior to Square, he spent more than six years at Mastercard in various roles, including general manager of Ireland and vice president of European digital and fintech partnerships.
Lalor has also held senior roles at Barclaycard, American Express and Dell.
His appointment follows Conferma Pay’s acquisition by travel industry software and technology provider Sabre Corporation in August 2022. The firm also announced a new partnership and minority investment by Mastercard in November 2022, completed on 31 January 2023.
Roshan Mendis, executive vice president and chief commercial officer (CCO) at Sabre Travel Solutions, says Lalor’s appointment comes at a “pivotal year in our payments journey”.
Mendis adds Lalor’s commercial leadership experience and “deep understanding of the payments ecosystem” will benefit the firm as it looks to “accelerate the digitisation of business-to-business (B2B) travel payments”.
Conferma Pay connects issuers to global distribution systems, more than 700 travel management companies and more than 100 online booking tools. It is fully integrated with all the major card schemes and serves more than 50 banking partners, who issue Conferma Pay generated virtual cards in nearly 100 currencies.
