Open Banking Exchange Asia formed to further open banking in APAC region
Open Banking Exchange (OBE) has signed a partnership with Asian open finance technology company Brankas. This will create OBE Asia, which will be led by Brankas’ CEO and founder, Todd Schweitzer.
OBE Asia’s stated aim is “to bring ecosystem members together through educational events and publications, with support and input from regulators and national banks, to help drive financial inclusion and resilience in the region”.
OBE, part of the Konsentus group, is a worldwide community to share, learn and collaborate around open banking, open finance and open data.
It aims to connect financial institutions and market players, as well as working with regulators, self-regulated organisations (SROs) and national communities to implement effective and interoperable open solutions based on jurisdiction neutral technology frameworks.
Brankas provides open finance technology solutions to financial institutions and digital businesses across Asia Pacific and will now work to ensure that the OBE programme is made relevant for this region.
OBE will share best practices and learnings from other regions across the globe to enable the creation of common standards and rules both at a country specific and regional level.
John Broxis, Managing Director, OBE, says: “We have a proven track record in supporting the ecosystem in the evolution of open banking and open finance across Europe, and other international markets. Each country and jurisdiction is different, so there is no model that fits them all.
