Barclays shuffles executive team as new group CEO settles into role
UK bank Barclays has shuffled its executive team following the appointment of C.S. Venkatakrishnan as its new group chief executive.
Venkatakrishnan, known as Venkat, stepped into the top job following the departure of former chief Jes Staley.
Now the bank has appointed Paul Compton as its new global head of the corporate and investment bank (CIB) and president of Barclays Bank.
Compton has previously served as global head of investment banking and co-president of Barclays Bank.
Another change is Alistair Currie, who shifts from head of corporate banking to head of consumer banking and payments.
Currie is charged with leasing an “ongoing transformation” of those businesses as they become “more digitally focused”.
Barclays has also appointed a new chief digital strategy officer in Ashok Vashwani, who previously worked in the New York office as CEO for global consumer banking and payments.
