Swift appoints JP Morgan exec as new chief for Americas and UK
Swift has announced the appointment of John Hunter as its new chief executive for Americas and the UK.
Hunter arrives from JP Morgan, where he was most recently managing director and product executive for global clearing.
Across a 17-year spell at the US bank, Hunter held numerous roles in clearing, settlement, and infrastructure.
Between 2008 and 2010 he also had a two-year stint as a senior product marketing manager at Adobe.
Swift says Hunter’s focus will centre on strategic customer relationships across the two major markets, with a focus on infrastructure reform.
Rosemary Stone, Swift chief business development manager, says Hunter offers “valuable and extensive experience”.
She adds the new hire will reinforce Swift’s industry focus and support its customers.
Hunter says Swift has “long served as a trusted global partner to the industry”. He adds he is “delighted” to support the next stage of the company’s journey.
Hunter’s appointment follows the hiring of former Standard Chartered CISO Cheri McGuire as Swift’s new chief technology officer.
The payments infrastructure group launched its new low-value payment service, Swift Go, in July.
