Challenger bank Mox appoints former ING exec Barbaros Uygun as CEO
Hong Kong-based Mox Bank has appointed digital banking veteran Barbaros Uygun as its new CEO and executive director of its board.
Uygun will bring more than 24 years of banking experience to the role, having worked across a number of areas including business management and strategy, marketing, product development and digital transformation.
Deniz Güven will step down as CEO and executive director of the bank’s board with effect from 27 September, at which point Uygun will assume his new roles within the firm.
Güven will move on to serve as a special advisor to Standard Chartered on a range of digital initiatives.
Uygun previously served as the CEO of ING Bank Austria. Prior to this he held various leadership positions at ING Bank and Garanti Bank BBVA.
Speaking on his appointment, Uygun says he hopes to help “take Mox to the next level and continue to win the trust and hearts of our customers”.
Mox chairperson Mary Huen adds Uygun brings “substantial experience and skills in digital banking and financial services to drive Mox’s next growth phase”.
