Currencycloud hires Mark Ledsham as new COO and 10x’s Neil Drennan as CTO
Payments infrastructure firm Currencycloud has announced the arrival of a new chief operations officer, Mark Ledsham, and chief technology officer, Neil Drennan.
Ledsham joins Currencycloud from exchange company xe.com, where he had held the position of CEO since January 2019.
Prior to joining xe.com, Ledsham held senior roles at international payment fintech OFX and financial services conglomerate Macquarie Group.
“I’m joining Currencycloud at an incredibly exciting stage in its growth trajectory,” says Ledsham.
“This made for a compelling opportunity […] serving many of the most important fintech and financial services companies in the world.”
Drennan joins from 10x Future Technologies, a firm he had spent three and a half years at. While there he grew its engineering team and, according to Currencycloud, built platforms using “similar methods” as his new firm.
“Currencycloud has changed the face of cross-border payments,” says Drennan.
“I am looking forward to working with, and growing, the existing team to continue being at the forefront of the industry.”
Currencycloud’s current CTO, Stuart Bailey, has shifted across to become the firm’s chief product officer.
Currencycloud offers API and payments infrastructure solutions enabling clients to offer currency exchange services.
The firm claims to support almost 500 banking and technology clients. It reports global monthly transaction volumes of over $4 billion for the first half of 2021.
In July, Visa announced its intentions to acquire Currencycloud in a deal valuing the latter at £700 million.
Visa says the acquisition will strengthen its foreign exchange capabilities by extending them to better serve financial institutions, fintechs and partners.
