Deko hires former Barclays tech chief as new CTO
UK-based fintech Deko has appointed Tom Myles as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
The 20-year payments and banking veteran previously served as CTO of Barclays Payment Gateway, where he led the development and delivery of the bank’s enterprise payment services.
Myles also previously led the technology division for The ai Corporation, with a particular focus on machine learning advancements.
Deko says Myles will focus on “accelerating the digital development of Deko’s retail finance ecosystem”.
Along with Myles, the firm also announced the arrival of Rob Fernandes as chief product officer (CPO).
Fernandes previously founded management consultancy Pay2Z, which advised clients including Tink, Pollinate, Vocalink and Paysafe on payments product strategy.
Prior to this he worked at Metacharge and WePay, and also led product development at PayPoint Plc.
Launched in 2010, Deko has developed a point of sale online finance platform that enables companies to offer credit as a payment option across sales channels.
It claims to serve over 1,700 merchants and lenders including Zip and Snap.
The firm was acquired by UK credit card issuer NewDay in a £40 million deal last year.
