Monzo hires new CRO with blue chip banking career
Digital challenger bank Monzo has hired a new chief risk officer (CRO) carrying a blue chip banking career from the likes of Nationwide, Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays, altfi reports.
Leaving ClearBank after just six months as its chief risk and compliance officer, Lisa Nowell will now be joining one of the UK’s digital banks for millennials, reporting into its CEO Tom Blomfield and the chairman of Monzo’s risk committee.

“I’m thrilled to have joined Monzo and I’m really excited to be part of an amazing team that will take the bank through the next phase of growth and beyond,” says Nowell.
With a plethora of previous experience liaising with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), Nowell can also bring her expertise in reacting to regulatory changes such as Basel III.
The role seems to have been left vacant for over a year since Ruth Doubleday left the bank as its previous CRO. However, Monzo has not yet responded to FinTech Futures’ request for reply at the time of publication.
