Bank of Kigali chooses Temenos for regional growth
Rwanda-based Bank of Kigali has selected Temenos to power its digital transformation journey to support its regional growth plans and realise its financial inclusion objectives.
The bank hopes to gain business agility and lower the cost of deployment. It aims to deliver innovative products and services specifically to underserved segments of the economy and key population demographics like the youth and the unbanked.
Bank of Kigali plans to grow the number of customers to one million by 2021.
The bank is transforming its legacy IT systems using Temenos T24 Transact, the vendor’s flagship core banking software product, including the analytics, reporting, risk and compliance modules; additional capabilities will be provided by the Temenos Payments product.
It is understood the new platform is replacing the legacy Delta-Bank core banking system (now known as Amplitude) from French vendor Delta Informatique (now part of Sopra Banking Software/Sopra Steria).
Incorporated in Rwanda in 1966 and a customer of Temenos since 2016, Bank of Kigali has grown to become the country’s largest commercial bank with a branch network of 68 locations.
Bank of Kigali is currently looking to drive its transactional growth revenue through both retail and insurance and brokerage business.
