Mount Lehman CU goes live with Smart Solution’s Universa
Mount Lehman Credit Union (MLCU) has cut over to the Universa core banking platform from Smart Solution, reports Martin Whybrow.
It is the Ontario-based supplier’s sixth user in British Columbia. The implementation was on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis, with this model now adopted by around 80% of Universa users.
MLCU CEO, Arlet Wilde, praised the supplier implementation team’s credit union expertise and project management skills. Resolution of any minor issues after the go-live was “quick and effective”, she adds.
Wilde joined MLCU mid-2017 from the much larger Servus Credit Union, which some years ago shelved an implementation of Temenos’ T24. She was previously with Conexus CU, which has the Fiserv Acumen system.
The much lighter Universa system has picked up a reasonable number of small to mid-sized domestic credit unions since it was launched in 2009, plus a handful of users in the Caribbean and Central America.
MLCU is a single branch credit union with $55 million in assets under management serving 1600 members in the Central Fraser Valley. The supplier says a number of other Universa cut-overs are scheduled for this year.
