Mobi Direct picks Worldline for Pakistani payments
Mobi Direct, a payment system operator (PSO) and payment service provider (PSP) in Pakistan, has contracted Worldline to provide its digital infrastructure platform.
Following the integration and implementation, Mobi will be able to deliver a range of issuing and acquiring transactions for its customers and the banking industry.
Wolf Kunisch, member of the executive committee at Worldline and deputy CEO at equensWorldline, says: “Mobi Direct’s digital payments project will play a vital role in the modernisation of Pakistan’s finance sector and of the country’s economy as a whole, and Worldline is proud to be part of these developments.”
Mobi was authorised by the State Bank of Pakistan to establish an electronic payment gateway (EPG) and is developing an ecosystem for various types of digital payments and e-commerce products.
The firm is targeting the unbanked population, the rural economy, and the export community to help them offer Pakistani products to overseas markets.
In an economic environment like Pakistan that continues to challenge all organisations, partnering with a committed and reliable vendor such as Worldline is essential, the firm adds.
Recently, it was revealed that Alipay’s technology will be the fintech fuel for the launch of Pakistan’s “first” blockchain-based cross-border remittance service.
