Argentine Banco Galicia opens up Starbucks bank branch
Argentinian Banco Galicia has opened its first “coffee banking” branch in Buenos Aires, in partnership with Starbucks, combining banking services, WiFi and heaps of coffee in the same place.
According to national news site El Economista, Diego Baccini, head of branches at Banco Galicia, says that both companies have co-designed the space in agreement to leave traditional notions behind – and find new ways to capture people’s attention.
He says: “What do our customers seek? An informal space, but with specialised customer care.”
Máximo Pellegrino, marketing head in Starbucks Argentina, comments: “Any person’s most comfortable place is their home, after that, their place of work. We want our shops to be third on that list.”
This coffee shop would open beyond the traditional banking schedule, including weekends and evenings.
If this doesn’t sound like enough, the bank’s customers receive a 15% discount on Starbucks’ products.
This “coffee + banking” model seems to be working in its neighbouring country, Chile, with Santander’s branches.
