Uber and Venmo link up for payments
Uber and Venmo have announced that they’re partnering to deliver a new payment experience on Uber and Uber Eats, to be launched “in the coming weeks”.
Uber customers will be able to pay with their Venmo balance, linked bank account, credit card or debit card so they can split the cost with other users in the Venmo app, for no additional fee.
“Adding Venmo as a way to pay within Uber and Uber Eats furthers our mission to provide a seamless way to pay for the services that matter most to our customers,” says Bill Ready, CEO, PayPal (owner of Venmo).
More than six million payments on Venmo mentioned “Uber” in their description over the past year, which prompted the two companies into creating a connection between the two firms.
“Whether it’s splitting a ride home after a night out, or sharing a meal during a night in, paying with Venmo provides our customers with a convenient and fun way to split and share these experiences with friends.”
There’s also some news about emojis that we have deliberately decided to ignore.
Strangely, you can now give e-gift cards for Uber.
Trouble in Pay-Paradise
On the Venmo side, cool kids can now get Venmo debit cards in all nice colours.
Venmo’s papa PayPal is doing pretty well, in case you haven’t heard.
However, back in in March of this year, PayPal was allegedly providing inaccurate payment information to its Venmo users.
The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) took action on the matter, which also involved undisclosed or unclear privacy conditions.
