Atos digital DNA drives revamp for insurer CNA
European IT services company Atos and CNA Financial Corporation, the eighth largest commercial insurer in the US, have lovingly formed a new multi-year relationship where Atos will manage CNA’s IT infrastructure.
According to Atos, it will revamp CNA’s IT operations through orchestrated cloud migration and the development of new services. It will be “delivered predominantly as-a-Service”.
Joseph Merten, executive vice-president, technology and operations, CNA, says: “Atos will help accelerate CNA toward a more modern IT architecture that is anchored in the cloud, less complex and more efficient for employees, insureds, agents and brokers.”
As part of the deal, legacy applications will be migrated to an Atos Canopy Orchestrated Hybrid Cloud platform that shifts workloads to the appropriate cloud resources.
The legacy mainframe will be moved to a “consumption-based model” – and an application-by-application path to migrate to CNA’s new platform.
The phrase “as-a-Service” is everywhere, and Atos adds that it will deploy a digital workplace, including “Device-as-a-Service”, which manages the life cycle of all corporate devices.
Last month, Atos said it will acquire Michigan-based digital solutions provider Syntel for $3.4 billion as it seeks to expand its capabilities in North America and improve its banking, finance and insurance services.
