Velocity accelerator calls for wealthtech start-ups
The Investment Association (IA) is welcoming the first round of innovators for Velocity, the IA’s specialist fintech accelerator for the asset management industry.
There will be a committee, the “Velocity Advisory Panel”, chaired by Graham Kellen, chief digital officer of Schroders, and comprised of senior industry leaders and digital technology specialists, which will oversee the selection process, and provide guidance on emergent technology across front, middle and back office operations.
Chris Cummings, IA’s chief executive, says the UK has a “strong pool of talented fintech firms driving innovation across the asset management industry and ensuring that we remain globally competitive”.
The six-month programme will see up to ten firms being advised by IA, as well as gaining exposure in the industry.
The IA has also created an entirely new category of membership to cater for fintechs operating within asset management. This enable firms to access the IA’s resources and also participate in a programme of industry events.
Applications are open until 28 September, and the first cohort will start in October 2018.
