Tinkoff and Sberbank share mobile numbers for P2P payments
Tinkoff Bank has launched a joint initiative with Sberbank to allow their customers to make P2P money transfers using a mobile number.
The service will be rolled out from today (13 July) in the bank’s mobile apps and the personal online accounts of Moscow-based customers. It will be available to all customers across Russia by the end of July.
“Tinkoff was one of the first in the Russian market to offer this option within our own banking system. Now, alongside our partner Sberbank, we are scaling this service and taking it to the next level,” says Anatoly Makeshin, director of payment systems and deputy chairman of Tinkoff Bank.
Tinkoff adds that it is also involved in the development of a rapid payment system (SBP – in Russian: sistema bystroy oplaty), which will allow customers to make instant transfers using other identifiers (such as email address or social network accounts) “anywhere and at any time, regardless of the beneficiary bank”.
And action!
Both banks are staying lively in the fintech arena.
In May, Tinkoff and the Talent and Success Foundation teamed up for a new development hub in Sochi.
In February, Tinkoff, VTB Bank and Pochta Bank, together with telephony provider Rostelecom, presented a beta version of their unified biometrics system (UBS), a digital platform developed at the request of the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media and the Bank of Russia.
By the way, earlier this month, FinTech Futures was in Moscow for Sberbank’s first International Cybersecurity Congress (ICC).
