Coinbase unveils crypto e-gift card for Uber and Google Play
Coinbase now allows customers to spend their cryptocurrency balances on e-gift cards in the EU and Australia.
The platform claims it’s the first one to allow for such type of transactions, which was possible through a partnership with UK start-up WeGift.
Some of the retailers that accept these e-gift cards include Uber, Google Play, Nike, Tesco, Ticketmaster, and Zalando.
This new service is currently available in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands and Australia, and will be expanding geographies and retailers in the next three months, the firm has said.
Among Coinbase’s recent moves, in May, it unveiled institutional grade solutions for cryptocurrency trading.
It’s worth noting that it acquired Earn in April, a start-up for digital currency payments for targeted microtasks.
Also in April, Coinbase started supporting start-ups through its investment arm.
However, the company is not free of problems, having been taken to court twice.
