Venmo shines brightly in debit card roll-out
Venmo has expanded its offering to a brightly-coloured Mastercard debit card, formally launching out of beta.
The firm has been very popular in the US as it has provided users with a way to send and receive payments in real time and digitally, from Venmo account to Venmo account.
This new debit card introduction, which can also top itself up automatically to allow users to pay for goods even when their Venmo balance is low, comes with an in-app spending tracker and “disable card” feature.
Currently, the card has got limited availability, but it’s capitalising on the millennial trendiness by offering the card in six (very) bright colours. Contactless and – weirdly – designed in portrait format.
Trouble in Pay-Paradise
Back in in March of this year, PayPal, which owns Venmo, was allegedly providing inaccurate payment information to its Venmo users.
The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) took action on the matter, which also involved undisclosed or unclear privacy conditions.
