SuperCharger’s latest programme raises $14.4m and inks 47 deals
SuperCharger, a fintech accelerator in Asia, and its main partner Standard Chartered have released the results of their third 12-week programme. The cohort of companies achieved 47 commercial deals, raised $14.4 million in funds, received 17 awards and established a relevant business network.
Standard Chartered’s new proof of concept (PoC) vPhrase was one of the finalists. Its artificial intelligence (AI) technology automates the generation of insights and commentary to include trends on regions, business and functions.
This year’s programme’s goals have been established by Standard Chartered, which define a set of real problems to solve.
Janos Barberis, founder of SuperCharger, highlights the launch of Asia’s first Fintech Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with the University of Hong Kong, which enrolled over 20,000 students to date, including the employees of Standard Chartered.
“We are looking for greater collaboration with fintechs to help us solve real business problems and improve the client experience,” adds Carol Hung, CIO at Standard Chartered.
In April, Standard Chartered officially opened its Hong Kong innovation lab, the eXellerator, will look into creating opportunities for businesses, clients, technology companies and industry partners in Hong Kong and the region.
